I can't say I thought that the new Gatsby movie even touched the Redford classic, but the production design was gorgeous. I missed the Great Gatsby Challenge as it was right when we were making our transatlantic move to England but I never stopped dreaming about all of the dusty pinky purpley hues Mulligan wears as Daisy. So now we have settled in I wanted to whip something up that was inspired by the palette and era of the film. It's funny to think that I used to avoid wearing pink but this is my third pink dress in a row!
I had some printed chiffon I picked up at the Birmingham sewing blog meet up and solid dusty pink chiffon and lace left over from my Downton Dress. I also used the pattern from my Lady Mary project, the Burdastyle Double Layer Dress. The headband is just some scrap fabric tied wrapped and tied in a knot, which I thought kind of looked like a rose but I would love to make a feather hair accessory one day.
A quick and easy project that will get wear layered with vintage knits in the colder months and with sandals in the summer, comfy and glam makes me a happy flapper!
